This 48 kWp Solar PV plant in Mpale village, developed and executed by ENSOL of Tanzania and TTA with funding from « Energy and Environment Partnership Programme –EEP S&EA» and UNCDF (Unlocking Public and Private Finance for the Poor) and Power Africa, was commissioned at the end of July 2017 and is now in operation.
Official inauguration of the micro-grid took place last September 9th with the participation of Tanzanian authorities (Deputy PS Ministry of Energy and Minerals and Rural Energy Agency), Mpale stakeholders (Village Chairman and Ward Councilor, DED and DC), EEP, Power Africa, UNCDF, community members, including children.
Mpale users/clients (domestic, commercial, institutional) count now on high efficient electricity services including metering that allows load management through TTA’s EDA concept (Energy Daily Allowance), controlled by an Electricity Dispenser. The community has acknowledged the benefits which will come on its economic development as well as improvement on health, education, and public services such as lighting.
